About the Author
Andrew Forkner is a keen naturalist and has travelled the world in search of wildlife. His artwork has also travelled widely, with examples of his art in collections in the UK, Europe, Kenya, Canada, USA and Nepal. A self-taught wildlife artist, he works in a variety of media, including graphite pencil, acrylics and pastel to complete his originals. Andrew lives in Oxfordshire. Andrew is a signature member of The Artists for Conservation Foundation and also a member of The Wildlife Art Society International. He has produced several commissions for the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds, of which he has been a member for over thirty years.

Great hardcover book with a multitude of instructions, tips and full color illustrations. I was not expecting this book so soon; However, it was delivered three days before the expected delivery date. It is really a great book for any bird watching enthusiast or any artist who paints birds, either novice or expert. I recommend this book
This book is a must have for your library if you are interested in painting birds. I hope that he will offer some video tutorials in the future to go with the book. He has an interesting technique for painting with acrylics that tempted me to move from watercolors to try a new medium. His techniques can be used to paint a lot more than just birds.
This book has everything a student could want to learn bird painting in acrylics. He even includes drawing to practice by.I will buy all the books he ever puts out. Video's too. I hope he will do the large Blue Heron and other large birds and a black Raven in his next book.
Book was a gift for my daughter who is a budding artist and also has 4 birds. She said the book was beautiful, described what characteristics define each type of bird. She commented that it is not a book for kids but a way to technically illustrate many different types of birds. Only negative comment was the time from order to delivery was longer than average.
