I love beautiful cookbooks but a lot of the time the recipes are too difficult, require odd ingredients or are too time consuming to actually recreate. This cookbook is not only beautiful to look at, the photos are stunning but the recipes are amazing and actually easy to make. I have made a number of things and everything has been a hit with my family. There are even party throwing tips, so cool. This is a must for your collection or even to give as a gift. Also! I love that when it's open it actually lays flat. Most of my cookbooks I have to hold it open with a weight or something on the page I'm looking at or use a cookbook stand to hold it open. This lays flat open which is a thoughtful feature.
This is a cookbook written by a busy working mom who knows how hard it is to make dinner. She writes “I’ll give you my tips and tricks for the lazy gal’s shortcuts, mixing homemade with store-bought, kid-friendly recipe tweaks and no-sweat party ideas.†There is no greater joy than eating with friends and family and Tiffani’s cookbook is filled with recipes you actually want to make. I keep turning each page saying to myself “ oh that is my favorite, oh so is that, and that’s my favorite too.â€
I absolutely love this cookbook. It's very well thought out and beautiful. So far I have tried both the banana bread and vegetarian chili. The banana bread was probably the best baked good I've made in years. And I bake quite a bit. My husband and I devoured the entire pan in less than 24 hours. I also made the vegetarian chili which was a complete surprise. I prefer to eat more vegetarian meals, but usually feel like the meat (and flavor) is missing in most vegetarian chilis. This was not the case. There was so much depth of flavor. I would proudly serve this recipe at any chili cook-off. I cannot say enough. There are lovely dinner party ideas and the photos are just all so happy. I would recommend this book to anyone.
Pull Up a Chair by Tiffani Thiessen is a perfect cookbook. The recipes are delicious and approachable and the photos are stunning! I cannot wait to make everything in this book and buy five copies for my friends and family. This would make the perfect holiday gift! The rosemary grapefruit cocktail seems like a perfect cocktail or brunch drink. I already made the cream cheese pie and I want to make it again!
The first copy I received had water damage, just like another reviewer. I exchanged it for another one that also very slightly had wavey pages from water damage as well. I don't like this book that much. There's a lot of empty space on some pages where she could have shrunken down the pics on the other pages to fit in on one page, instead she enlarged the pics to take up a whole 'nother page -- thereby making the whole book look and seem larger with more content than it actually has. The breakfast and lunch section is disappointing. Bread with nutella... and soup/salad... The end of the book then has pages just combining the receipes we already saw into a 4-course meal, there's no new content. There's a little to much focus on her kids, doesn't fit right. Seems more like her pics of her kids are trying to fit an image of her she is trying to portray.Loved her in Saved by the Bell, 90210, and White Collar; but this cookbook is pretty disappointing.
Tiffani Thiessen proves you don't need to be Saved by the Bell when it comes to creating amazing and simple recipes that appeal to people of all ages and tastes. I bought several to give as gifts. I'm picking one recipe per day to try...can't wait to make them all.
I bought this beautiful book for a friend who collects cookbooks and loves to cook. She was thrilled with her gift and couldn’t quit talking about all the recipes she had marked as “can’t wait to try.†She has been sharing all the new dishes she has prepared with me, and I must say the results are delicious! They are not only tasty, but look beautiful as well - just like the amazing photos in the book. Knowing how much my friend loves to cook, I couldn’t wait until Christmas to give her this gift, but now I’m going to order copies for all my friends who love cooking and trying new recipes for their Christmas present. Thank you, Tiffani, for making my Christmas shopping a “piece of cake.â€
Received the book today, I haven’t made anything but went through all the recipes. The book is wonderfully made and I like the part in the back for theme parties and what recipes pair well with each other for a certain theme. I can’t wait to start making meals!
