Book was great. A lot of suspense, good character development that builds from previous book, not quite sure of the next move, with a fun budding romance. Dee Henderson does a great job of interweaving faith discussions that aren't too in your face, but thought provoking. Can't wait to read the next in the series.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the O'Malley series. I have read them all at least 5 times a piece, (and I usually don't read books more than once). YOU MUST READ THEM IN ORDER!! Don't start with this one Book 2 if you haven't read The Negotiator. I read The Negotiator first, and read Danger In The Shadows (The prequel) probably after Book 2, so you could read the prequel first. This book The Guardian, I love the main character Marcus and Shari. If you're thinking of reading this, you don't need to read the review because you've already read The Negotiator (Book 1) and know the rest of the books are just as excellent. If you are reading this review and haven't read Book 1, read that first.

LOVED the author's willingness to write about the harder subjects within this thing called "FAITH"and God calling each of his children back to himself, reaching them right where they are Now.NOT To mention that this is done in a way you can apply for yourself, without being a "preachy" book!A Must Read for the HEA with thoughtfulness , laughter and Love for each other and for God.Thanks Dee Henderson, LOVE THE SERIES!!

As the other books by Dee Henderson this story kept me reading on and on. The story had many twists and turns, heartache and joy. Still the ending of the story seemed to come a bit too easy which is the only reason I only gave it four stars. There was suspense and my heart beet quite faster then it should have, but it ended to quickly and too easily. Lucas (an assasin hired to kill Shari) seemed to be skilled and unbeatable and also for a bad guy seemed to have a sense of honor since he didn't realy want to kill her. This is why I expected a bigger showdown, and I hope to see this in the upcoming books. I agree with a previous reviewer that the characters do seem a bit too perfect with very little flaws. I think in a good book all characters would have serveral flaws that can hinder them in their 'mission'. Still, I greatly enjoyed reading this book as it is full of suspence and has humor interspersed cleverly throughout it and of course I will be reading the rest of them as well.

Loved this book! This one takes place shortly after The Negotiator ends. We read the story of Marcus O'Malley, the big brother and "guardian" of the family. He is a Marshall and is on duty the night that a shot is taken at a federal judge. There he meets Shari, the only witness to the crime and it's his duty to keep her safe. This was a wonderful story and Lisa's is next! Way to go Dee!

Dee Henderson tackles the difficult problem of why prayers aren't always answered the way we think they should be, and the bigger issue of struggling to reconcile the concept of an all-powerful and loving God in a hurting world. She does it without handing out platitudes. Even though it is painful to vicariously experience the losses her fictional characters experience, things like murder, cancer, and heartbreak are a part of real life, and she doesn't try to shield us from them in her stories. The realism of things not always turning out totally "happily ever after" makes the difficulties her fictional characters go through much more inspirational to the reader. Dee Henderson has a knack for combining her characters' spiritual journeys with a gripping mystery full of drama and emotion. She writes fiction that rings true because it has laughter as well as sorrow, and her characters are ones which the reader can identify with. The O'Malley family of this series is a family that everyone would love to be part of, and I can't wait until the next book comes out to hear more!

This is so much more than a Christian romance. This is my sixth time reading this series and the lessons within the powerful stories haven't diminished over the years. The struggles of believing in a loving, sovereign God in the midst of pain and suffering are relevant throughout history. Here the age old questions and answers are woven into a suspenseful love story full of intense characters that you just can't help but wish they were real.

This book is part of a series I stumbled onto about a group of 7 orphans who banded together to form a family, the O'Malleys. This is an excellent book, even if you don't read the series, but you will! It is fast paced, uplifting Christian fiction with action, amazing amazing characterizations, romance and even theology. My husband is reading this book, #2 in the series plus there is a prequil, and really enjoying it. This is about the head of the O'Malley family, oldest brother and federal marshal Marcus. Its a pleasure to read a series that has characters with very human failings but high moral standards and a rock solid commitment to each other. Outstanding!
